Freedom Seekers on the Freedom Trail in Central New York

The significance of the Underground Railroad in upstate New York will be evident after touring these unique attractions in the Syracuse area. Beginning with the Underground Railroad display at the Onondaga Historical Association, and then – stop on the Railroad – the Matilda Joslyn Gage Center in Fayetteville. Take a few moments to visit the Jerry Rescue Memorial on Clinton Square and view the balcony where Charles Dickens made his speech in favor of returning all Freedom Seekers to their original owners. Also included is a short drive to the Abolitionist Hall of Fame in Peterboro along with the Gerrit Smith Historic Site. Smith was an outspoken advocate for abolishing slavery and dedicated years and many dollars to his cause. Return to Syracuse via the quaint village of Cazenovia for a visit to the lakeside home of village founder John Lincklaen, "Lorenzo". Also, there’s the Seward House Museum in Auburn along with the Harriet Tubman Home and the burial sites for both leaders. We’ve also included the Erie Canal Museum and the Paul deLima Coffee Store and Museum

Located in the heart of the 9000 square mile Finger Lakes Region, the Ramada Geneva Lakefront is situated on the shores of Seneca Lake located perfectly for your next vacation. Visit Rose Hill Mansion, an 1831 farm home overlooking Seneca Lake and a stop at Waterloo Premium Outlet Center, home to over 100 designer and name brand outlet stores complete with special coupon book. Take the 20-minute drive to Canandaigua to visit both Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion as well as the Granger Homestead. There may also be time for a quick stop at the renowned New York Wine and Culinary Center for a walk through or a wine tasting. There are also stops included at Fox Run Vineyards and/or Anthony Road Winery before departing for home on the 3rd day.

Geneva, the beautiful Finger Lakes community, located on the shores of Seneca Lake, is home for two nights at the Ramada Geneva Lakefront. Included is the drive along the 37 miles of Seneca Lake, through Watkins Glen, world famous for it’s NASCAR road course, and then to Corning Museum of Glass. After lunch it’s Hammondsport and the Glenn Curtiss Museum and a walk around the square downtown before stops at Bully Hill Winery and/or Dr Frank’s Vineyards. Return to Geneva along the Keuka Lake shoreline. Waterloo Premium Outlet Center is also included as is Rose Hill Mansion.
